SCNM

Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine

In 1992 the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine was established with the motto, "Discover the physician within you. Change the world around you." It is under this motto that the highly motivated student body has created our very active campus clubs such as our legislative group, the Naturopathic Advocacy and Community Awareness Team (N-ACT); our philosophy club, the Naturopathic Society; our global health student organization, Naturopaths Without Borders, the Ayurvedic Organization and a number of other very active student clubs (http://www.scnm.edu/student-organizations.html).

SCNM Success Stories

Wins for SCNM in 2011!

This last year the NMSA at Southwest College of Naturopathic medicine was focused on bringing an exploration of integrative medicine to the school. We celebrated International Integrative Medicine day (IIM day), which is an event sponsored by the American Medical Student Association (AMSA) where medical students from all around the world celebrate integrative medicine. Many schools decide to host healthy food potlucks or yoga. At SCNM we held a booth at lunch leading up to IIM day and encouraged a dialogue among classmates questioning what integrative medicine is, what it means to naturopaths and what they saw for the future of medicine. It was a very educational experience in that we became more aware of how diverse the opinions and dreams of naturopathic medical students really are. Of course, it makes plenty of sense seeing as to that independent thinking is what brought us to this profession in the first place.
